Job Overview:
Our partner is a leading firm in the aviation sector committed to enhancing the IT infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of system reliability and efficiency. We are looking for a seasoned OPS Support Engineer like you to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will drive and enhance operational excellence, directly contributing to our mission of delivering safe and efficient aviation services used in ATM (Air Traffic Management).

You are the ideal candidate if you are an expert in Data Management and are deeply entrenched in the modern ecosystem, have a strong background in a wide range of technologies including aviation, and have a proven track record in high-stakes industries.

In the Role of eEAD Operations Support Engineer, you will:

  • Be a member of a dynamic team to operate and maintain the eEAD which is going into operations Q32024.
  • The eEAD is the new enhanced Aeronautical Database for the provision of Aeronautical Information Services (AIS).
  • Your initial role within the team is to document the eEAD System Operational Processes and Guidelines to keep the system operational and resolve issues when they arise.
  • In the second phase you will be involved in further development of the operational system proposed by the eEAD stakeholders.
  • Work with the newest, state of art cloud native technologies both in the cloud and onprem.
  • Detect, identify, and analyze faults if they arise, help to fix them, and work on solutions to avoid further occurrence.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production errors and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate SRE best practices into the software life cycle.
  • Constantly improve the service availability, scalability, performance, monitoring, and overall manageability.
  • Be involved in common work with security experts, architects, and developers to build and improve a sustainable technical landscape.
  • Continuously research and assess new approaches for potential use, and provide recommendations and subject matter expertise regarding trends, technology, tools, and services.
  • Participate in oncall rotation, providing support for critical issues.
  • Contribute to all areas of Site Reliability Engineering as a team member.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in computer science or related field.
  • Strong communication skills, proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Have experience in documenting IT System Operational Procedures and Guidelines using Confluence, Jira and Word.
  • Advanced experience in operating and automating solutions with at least three of the following technologies/Products:
    • Document database (MongoDB)
    • Webservice Service Communication protocols SOAP/REST/JSON
    • Relational Database Management Systems (PostgreSQL)
    • WFS - Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)
    • XML more specifically (nice to have) AIXM5.1
  • Good understanding of security principles.
  • Experience in developing applications is an advantage.
  • Ability to quickly acquire and utilize knowledge on new methodologies and solutions.
  • Strong ethics and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multinational team and communicate effectively.
  • EU citizenship and willingness to live in or around Brussels.
  • Nice to have experience as a pilot or in ATM (Air Traffic Management) and knowledge of the ICAO Annexes 3,4,15, (SARPS) as drivers for aviation safety, efficiency, and regularity. This will help in understanding the business requirements.
